    TheStartupist Conversation with PensEyeView.com

Posted on 31. Aug, 2009 by ethan in Interviews

Richie Frieman is a children’s author, artist, and is currently working on his newest project PensEyeView.com.  PEV is an online magazine featuring a new artist, innovator, or visionary every 48 hours.  Richie approached TheStartupist for an interview, and I couldn’t say no.  He is full of excellent information for those of you who are looking to turn your artistic creativity into a business venture, or just those who are looking to start an online publication.

You yourself are an artist.  Describe how you decided to translate your passion for the arts into a website/business.

RF: As an artist, I’ve seen - and am part of - the process of getting your work out there. It’s so hard to get people to listen or view your work, since everyone is trying for the same thing. But artists are used to that kind of lifestyle and it’s just a part of the business. When I first started PensEyeView.com I was thinking of how can I offer so many talented artists a chance to have their work seen and support one another. That’s how it happened - bringing the music, art, and visionary communities together. The results have been great. I get so many features on PensEyeView.com from other artists saying, “Check out…” and it keeps on going from there.

PensEyeView.com falls in the Media, Arts & Entertainment category.

Laureates' achievements are recognized at two distinct events, which occur on the same day in June. During the Laureate Medal Ceremony, Case Studies are formally inducted into the Program's International Archives, and honorees are presented with a medallion inscribed with the Program's mission, "A Search for New Heroes." Later that day, Laureates join members of the Chairmen's Committee and other industry luminaries for the Gala Awards Evening. At that evening event, additional honors are given to 50 Finalists - 5 Laureates from each of the 10 categories, whose Case Studies were selected by Program Judges to be outstanding innovations within the information technology field. That field is narrowed further with the presentation of the 21st Century Achievement Awards. These awards are given to only one Finalist in each category, singled out for special recognition by the Program Judges to be the very best among their peers.
